OPERATING UNDER THE REALM OF OPEN HEAVEN – Part 1

Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

Revelation 19:11 Now I saw heaven opened…What does it mean for us to enjoy ‘heaven open,’ here on earth?

Matt 3:16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.

1 – When one operates under the realm of open heaven, it means to do extraordinary things, by looking beyond the physical.  It means total dependence, total trust, total faith in God and total obedience to God, like Jesus had with the Father. Hebs 12: 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

PRAYER – Lord help us to focus our attention on you and not man in the name of Jesus.

2 – To operate under in the realm of open heaven means to no longer care about your reputation. This happened in Luke 23.  Jesus was crucified between two thieves.  Jesus was mocked by the surrounding crowd, religious leaders, Roman soldiers, and even one of the thieves who hung next to him. But in during the mockery, something stirred in the heart of the second thief – his faith. And yet this thief found the courage, at the very end of his life, to place his life in the hands of another dying man.

Luke 23: 39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” 40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” 43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

PRAYER – Lord speak words of eternal comfort to me once again, ‘that our faith will be spoken of, throughout the whole world,’ (Rms 1:8) in Jesus name.

3 – Esther was another person in the Bible who operated under open heaven. Esther was a queen whose faith literally saved every Jew living in the Persian empire, all because of Haman’s hatred for Mordecai.  Her act of faith was calling a fast and going to the king when he had not called for her.

Esth 4:14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

PRAYER – Lord help me to seek you and obey you no matter what in the name of Jesus.

4 – Operating under the realm of open heaven means not being daunted by who or what is in front of us. It means having total trust in God.  And no one represents this better than David.  The shepherd boy who defeated a giant, Goliath, the Philistines who taunted the armies of Israel for 40 days. Goliath (who some estimate was over 9 feet tall) challenged any man from the army Israel to face him one-on-one for a winner-takes-all battle. No one in all of Israel had the courage to face him. And that’s when a little shepherd boy bringing lunch to his brothers wandered into the story.

1 Sam 17: 37 Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” Saul said, ‘the Lord be with you.’ When David got in front of Goliath, he said, 45 “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

PRAYER – Lord God let your church remember your awesome power once again in the name of Jesus.

5 – Another example of operating under open heaven, was the Red Sea crossing, a deliverance story that begins in Exodus Chapter 1. After a horrific 10-plague showdown with Pharaoh, Moses and the Israelites were released from slavery. An entire nation of slaves walked out of Egypt as a conquering army given whatever they asked for. But as Pharaoh looked over the devastation the Hebrews left in their wake, his heart hardened, and he set his army to recapture this nation of former slaves.

We know how frightened the Israelites were and in chapter Ex 14, Moses says in verse 13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation[b] of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall holdyour peace.”

PRAYER – Lord we come against Egyptians who are militating against your church in the name of Jesus.
