HAVE FAITH IN GOD LIKE ABRAHAM

Romans 4:19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

I never cease to be astonished at how our father in the Lord, in this case, Abraham, held on to his faith and believed God to the very end, without wavering.

We are told in verse 19 that, Abraham’s faith was not weak. Can I ask about the state of your faith? Is your faith weak? Or is it strong? Do you believe God and His promises to you like Abraham did?

Abraham was ninety nine years old when God told him he will have a son and Abraham’s faith was not weak – Genesis 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.  Pls take a minute to let that sink into your heart and mind. Abraham was resolute in his faith.

Even though Abraham knew he was old, we are told, in Romans 4:19, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb. Looking at the physical state of things was not an option for Abraham. Abraham’s trust in God was bounteous. He held on to the Word of God, that bound God to do what He had promised.

In verse 20, we are told, ‘He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God.’ What more can one say about such a person. The enemy cannot come to such a person and play mind games. He could not send the spirit of doubt or unbelief to tempt Abraham. No the enemy cannot touch a person who did not stagger at the promise of God. Instead, Abraham was thanking God for the promise of a son – Issac.

What are you thanking God for today? What has He promised you that seems as if, it is not coming forth? Remind yourself of those things and start thanking God because He who promised is faithful.

In verse 21, we are told, ‘And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.‘ God was and still is able to perform what He had promised, and Abraham was fully convinced of this.

This is what we call radical faith. A faith that does not shake, nor sway or wobble. A faith that holds on to the promise of God. A faith that says, in Job 13:15, ‘Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him.’ A faith that does not look at ‘me and my circumstance/s’ but at Him who has promised.

Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. My hope is that we will not miss the promise of God because of unbelief or because of time.

If God made you a promise, you will have to have faith for it to come to pass because it could come to you soon enough or it could take a while. Holding on is part of having faith.
