I am sure that we remember this story of Jesus turning water into wine. This is the story of Jesus performing His first miracle.  This is a simple story about obeying what God tells you to do.

I find this story interesting because of what His mother said; in John 2: ⁵ His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” This is a simple act of the servants being obedient because of what Jesus’s mother had said to them earlier.  

⁷ Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.   ⁸ Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”   They did so, ⁹ and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside ¹⁰ and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

This story reminds me of situations when we are down in the pit and feel that all hope is lost.  If we don’t give up and remind ourselves that our God is with us, then we need to do whatever he tells us to do, Hebs 13: 5b said because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Here we have Jesus at a wedding, the wine for the guests has finished and he tells the servants to fill the empty jars with water! He truly uses the things that do not make sense to confuse people of the world, 1 Corinthians 1: ²⁷ But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; reminds us.  Nay sayers might have said, ‘fill empty jars with water?, what can that do?  Remember, its not about the act but more about who is telling you to do the act.  

When God tells us to do something, let us try as much as we can this year to not reason the instructions out but instead to do it as quickly as possible, because the best is being saved for us. The longer you wait on the Lord for something, the more you can be rest assured that He will give you more than you have asked for or more than you can imagine.  Eph 3: ²⁰ Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,.

When you hear that still small voice telling you to do something, as Jesus’s mother said, do whatever He tells you.

PRAYER POINT: Lord help me to hear you this year; Lord bless me beyond my imagination; Lord help me to do what you tell me to do always in Jesus name.
