LET A NEED MOTIVATE YOU

As children of God, we are told to not be weary when doing good; Gal 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a haroirvest if we do not give up.

I believe that this year, God is calling us higher in Him and telling us to be a blessing to others, as He was.  I want to talk about Jesus and how He went about doing good.  The seventh chapter of Luke starts by telling us about how Jesus had just finished ministering, after which He went to Capernaum.  As He got there, a centurion sent a message to Him, asking if He could come and heal His servant.  Jesus was on the way to heal the servant, when the centurion sent another message to say that Jesus should not come to His home but speak the Word.  He did and the messengers got back to find the centurion’s servant healed.

In verse 11 Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. 12 As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her.13 When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”   14 Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”15 The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

Within a short space of time, Jesus had performed two miracles and He was not tired because we are told that He went about doing good.  In the story of the widow of Nain, Jesus had compassion the woman.  He did not wait to be asked to raise the dead, He just did.

Are you in a position to help out with a need? What need/s do you see around you?  Who has a need that you know off and you can help?   How are you being a blessing in the life of someone who mentions an area of need to you?  Of course if you are not able to help or show support in a tangible way, that is fine. But you could pray for God to send helpers to this person.  You meeting a need could be local, national or international.

My message is ‘let a need motivate you’; Jesus saw a need and was motivated to not only have compassion but He was motivated to also perform a miracle.  If Jesus went around doing good, performing miracles and not being tired, the same is expected of us as His children, remember Gal 6:9?

I have been in situations where I have helped, supported other people and much later, I have had a similar need.  What I did was to remind God of the need He used me to provide for.  The Bible says in Isaiah 45:11, “Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, ‘Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.’”  And I can assure you that God has raised helpers for me.

I know that sometimes, we could find it difficult to help others, when we have our own needs, that we are believing God for.  The best way is to take your eyes and focus off your problems and help others.  And also, in doing so, you are sowing into good ground.  I have also had situations that the more I helped, the more ‘my problem’ shift or God answers my prayers when all what I was also doing was ‘going around and doing good’.

Doing good gives honour to our Father in Heaven.  And if you are already doing good’, praise Jesus. This year 2017, let’s do more good.

PRAYER POINTS: Father God I thank you that you are making me aware of needs around me; Father help me to be a blessing to someone in need and Father God let the needs that you show me, motivate me to do good, in Jesus amen.
