PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD

The armour of God is our covering as Christians.  In Eph 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith,with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

1 – The Belt of Truth:  This is about discerning between good and evil; its is about you recognising what is Holy and what is demonic.  Truth will also help with reproduction and your future bloodline – 2 Corin 6:in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left.    The Spirit of Truth helps you to discover if a Scripture is being misused or it is the Word of God.  And example of this was when Jesus was tempted in the wilderness (Matt 4:1-11); the devil was quoting Scriptures in the wrong context and Jesus had to tell him each time ‘it is written…’

2 – The Breastplate of Righteousness: This armour helps you to identify if someone is a friend or a foe. Matt 5:Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.  And 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  The Bible tells us to seek righteousness and this is because it is the first thing that people see when they look at you; when they look at your life; how you handle your business and what you are doing with your life.  The breastplate of Righteousness protects your heart and the passion you have for what God has called you to do in life.  It also protects your spirit and the whole core of your being.  The breastplate of righteousness also helps you to make morally right choices and decisions.

3 – The Shoe of Peace: in Matt 10:13 If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. Jesus instructed us to say ‘peace be unto this house’ if the house is worthy and what this means is that let everything that is not the will of God, any form of chaos or anarchy be removed from the house you enter.  Let’s pray [Father Lord, let everything in my life that is contrary to the will of God be removed in the name of Jesus].  With the peace of God, comes calmness, in Mark 4, Jesus rebuked the sea and said peace be still – 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.   We are also told to pray for the peace of Jerusalem – Ps 122:Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

4 – The Shield of Faith: the beginning of Hebrews tells us in chapter 1:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  In 2 Corin 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight; we are told to walk by faith by believing what God tells us or what we read in the Word.  As Christians, we are saved by faith, delivered by faith, healed by faith and we are told in Hebs 11:But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.  Having faith protects us from ‘the fiery darts’ of the enemy, that is aimed at us.

5 – The Helmet of Salvation: The helmet of salvation keeps you safe from harm and encloses the mind of Christ in us.  It also guards us against interference from the thoughts of the enemy.  Let’s pray (I will think correctly today about every circumstance in my life.  I will not misconstrue actions of others.  I will have the strategy to do what God has called me to do.  And what I don’t know now, the Lord will reveal it to me in His own time.  I am open to God and guarded against the lies of the evil one.)  Isa 59:7 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head.

6 – The Sword of the Spirit: The Word of God is Spirit and truth.  This is the ability to discern between soul and spirit and the propensity to recognise your thoughts versus God’s thought.  Luk 5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. It is the capability to divide between truth or lie or God’s doctrine versus man’s doctrine.  You have to digest the Word of God in order for it to become food for your spirit.  Jer 15:16 thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.
