Ephesians 3:19 ¹⁹ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

What does it mean in practical terms to – BE FILLED WITH THE FULNESS OF GOD?

1 – To be filled with the fullness of God is to have God’s spiritual gifts. There are various types of spiritual gifts, given to us by God. These gifts are not something that belong to us but they are God’s supernatural ability manifesting itself in us and given to us by Him.

Romans 1: ¹¹ I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong – I believe that we need the spiritual gifts of God if we want to be filled up with the fulness of God.

Prayer – Lord let every dormant spiritual gifts in me come alive in the name of Jesus. Lord increase or enhance your spiritual gifts in me. 

2 – To be filled with the fullness of God is to live in the Spirit – which is to be kingdom minded. By this I mean, to not allow ourselves as Christians to be burdened to the point of faithlessness regarding what is going on in the world. A kingdom minded person thinks differently and sees beyond the physical.

Romans 8: And so he condemned sin in the flesh, ⁴ in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Prayer – Father help me to be Spirit led always and live according to the Spirt and not the flesh in the name of Jesus.

3 – To be filled with the fullness of God is to seek God and His righteousness. God did not tell us to seek material things or healing etc but to see His Kingdom because in doing so, we will have the things on earth that we want, which have no value in Heaven.

Matthew 6: 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Prayer – Holy Spirit help me to keep my mind centred on the things that matter to you in the name of Jesus

4 – To be filled by the fullness of God is to live a righteous life and not be fearful. When we listen to the news, sometimes we can be gripped by fear and yet we know fear is the opposite of faith.

Rms 8, verses 10 & 15: ¹⁰ But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives lifebecause of righteousness.  ¹⁵ The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.  And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

Prayer – You my life be yielded to the Spirit of the living God inside of me in the name of Jesus.

5 – To be filled up with the fullness of God is to have our faith strengthened, because sometimes our faith gets shaken:  Jesus said be of good cheer for I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

Ephs 3: ¹⁶ I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, ¹⁷ so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.

Prayer – Lord strengthen me with the power of the Holy Ghost in my inner man/being in the name of Jesus.

6 – To be filled up with the fullness of God is to not quench the Spirit, to not do things that constantly upset God because we are in a dispensation of grace. It is easy to do as we live in an age where righteous living is seen as being extreme.

The Bible tells us in 1 Thes 5: ¹⁹ Do not quench the Spirit. 

Prayer: Lord, help me to not resist or reject the ministry of the Holy Spirit in my life in the name of Jesus.

7 – To be filled up with the fullness of God is to cleanse ourselves with the Blood of Jesus, so that we might serve God better at this time better than we have ever done.

Hebrews 9: ¹⁴ How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death,so that we may serve the living God!

Prayer: Father let the Blood of Jesus purify my heart & conscience from acts that lead to death in the name of Jesus.
