HE WANTS OUR PRAISE

sing-a-new-song-2-FI P1stL

In all our busyness, it is important to sometimes take time out and thank God for His goodness and faithfulness.

Philippians 4:Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

God wants us to praise Him and from the above scripture, we are told that as we pray we are to add thanksgiving. And that is what God wants from us.  God wants us to thank Him in advance as we pray.  God wants us to acknowledge Him, as the only One who will answer our prayers.

Ps 100:4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise.  Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

This above scripture shows us where we get the ‘praise and worship’ section at the beginning of any church services from.  When we come together, as one, He wants us to be thankful and grateful to Him and to bless His only name. Over the years, I have have come to appreciate the power of thanksgiving, praise and blessing Him in gratitude.

Ps 116:17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the Lord.

God wants us to thank Him for everything that He has done for us.  This is something that God so wants us to do. When we go through the psalms, there is a lot on the children of Israel being told to thank God.  Its not just about about being grateful about the things He did, but also about what He has done, what He is yet to do and to thank Him during the good and the not so good times.

As children of God, when we think about what Jesus did for us, we really owe the Holy Trinity our thanksgiving, our gratitude and our worship.  What Jesus had to go through, in order to save us and reconcile us to the Father, I marvel at His obedience and owe it to Him to thank Him for saving me and I’m sure you feel the same too.  Jesus was and is our example.  When He got to Lazarus’s grave, He gave thanks and when He took the Holy Communion with his disciples, again He gave thanks.

I want to end with this scripture, 1 Thess 5:18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

THANKSGIVING: Lord I thank you because you are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end of all things. Lord accept my thanksgiving this day as I acknowledge that there is no God like Jehovah, the Great and Mighty King of glory.  Father, I come into your presence with thanksgiving and praise and remember all the things that you have done for me, the battles that you are fighting for me right now and the enemies that you are destroying along the way.  Only you Lord is able to do the impossible in my life and I therefore thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done for me, especially during the hard times, being there and letting me know that I am not alone.  Accept my thanksgiving today Lord.
