PRAYER AND THANKSGIVING – 2

Last month, I spoke about ‘Prayer and Faith’.  Did you read the article?  Pls click the icon at the end of this article if you want to go to it…

Now, I want to talk about ‘Prayer and Thanksgiving’.  As women of God, what can we do without prayer?  It has to be our essence and our spiritual food.

As I am writing out this article, I am reminded of the story of Paul and Silas. The Bible in Acts 16:25 states: About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.  We know how the story ended for these two men of God.  Their chains were loosed and the prison doors opened supernaturally.  And as a result, the keeper of the prison and his family were baptised.

Now onto prayer and thanksgiving. how do you thank God after you have just asked for something? Well you thank God by faith, hence my starting this series on prayer with ‘Prayer and Faith’.  After you have prayed, you have to believe that God has done it, I mean that He has answered your prayer. Jas 1: 6  But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Now the timing of when you get your answer, could be instantaneously or it could be a step by step process or it might take a little while.  Only God knows when He will send the answer.

1Thes 5:16-18 Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Phil 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Col 4: 2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

People who don’t know God or people who are not as fervent as you in Christ, have to see God’s supernatural power moving in your life and then they can give their lives to God like the keeper of the prison did, with his family members or they can draw closer to Him.

Are you now ready to continue to pray and thank Him as you do so?.

Prayer point: Lord as I pray, remind me to be thankful to my answer to prayer in Jesus name.
