PRAYER AND PRAISE IN THE MIDST OF THE BATTLE

Has God ever instructed you to stop your warfare prayers or deliverance prayers and  praise Him instead in the midst of your battle?

Well, that is what God instructed Jehosaphat to do, when Judah was about to be be attacked by the army of Ammon, Moab and Seir.    Jehosaphat asked everyone to fast for a day, in order to seek God’s face.

The whole story can be found in 2 Chronicles chapter 20.  It is from this chapter, that the priest prophesied and says to the people, ‘…the battle is not yours but God’s’.  After consulting the people, Jehosaphat told the people that singers should be in front of the army.  And as they went forth praising Him, God was supernaturally setting ambush to the army of the enemy.

By the time, Judah got to where they thought the battle would take place, they only saw dead people, no one had escaped.

The bit that touched me this story is 2 Chronicles 2:25   And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.

This is a story of prayer, faith and praise. Are you ready to trust God, as He tells you to praise Him in the midst of your battle?  Yes, it is tough, yes you are not sleeping, yes it is consuming, yes you know how to pray your way out but God is saying praise Him.

Has He given you a song?  Songs usually precedes great battles in the Bible.  Ask Him for your ‘in this season’ song of praise or worship.

Prayer point:  Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever.
