Dance your sorrow away

The story of Jericho in Joshua chps 6:1-16, tells us about how God won a battle for His children by telling them to do something unusual.  He did not tell them to fight no, he told them to go march round the city of Jericho for six days, vs3.   On the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times and the priest will blow the trumpets, vs 4. It is only after the ‘long blast with the rams horn, that the people shall shout with a great shout, vs5.

 This was a story about how obedience to what God tells you to do, can bring about your victory.  God is God and does things any which way He wants and likes to.  The fact that last time you won a victory, you had to pray and fast, does not mean that next time He will ask you to do the exact same thing.  He could tell you to do something different.

In this particular battle, it was important for the children of Israel to have faith in God.  There is a reward to having faith, it will win your miracles for you.   The children of Israel, had left Egypt and walked through the wilderness. They had fought their enemies on the way, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites.  The children of Israel were used to fighting battles but this time around, when it came to Jericho, God said to praise Him with the seven priest going round and He gave further instructions.  There was no need to fight because God had said to Joshua in vs 2 that he had already given Jericho into his hands. 

The Bible tells us in Ps 100:4 ‘… to enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise.

1 Chrn 16:29…Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him.   Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

Ps 138:2…I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your unfailing love and your faithfulness, for you have so exalted your solemn decree that it surpasses your fame.

Ps 96:9…Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.

Whatever you might be going through at this moment, as God to reveal to you the way to battle.  Could it be praise and worship, instead of prayer and fasting?  Seek His face.  Remember that in 1Corin 1:²⁷ But God chose the foolishthings of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

With that in mind, your battle could be won by praise and worship.

PRAYER POINTS: Blood of Jesus purge my heart, so that I can hear and see you clearly.  Lord reveal to me, my battle axe for this battle in front of me.  Lord fight my battles for me in Jesus name.
