GOD OF RESTORATION IN THE LIFE OF JOB

God of restoration

God of restoration

Here we have a God fearing man whom we are told ‘and he was blameless and upright, one who revered God and avoided evil. He had seven sons and three daughters. He owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred asses; and he had many servants, so that he was the richest man among all the peoples of the East‘. Job 1:1-3

One day, God and Satan were having a conversation and God boasts about Job to Satan.    “Have you seen my servant Job? For there is no man like him on the earth, blameless and upright, who reveres God and avoids evil.” Satan answered, “But is it for nothing that Job reveres God? Have you not yourself made a hedge all about him, about his household, and about all that he has? You have blessed whatever he does, and his possessions have greatly increased. But just put out your hand now and take away all he has; he certainly will curse you to your face.” Then Jehovah said to Satan, “See, everything that he has is in your power; only do not lay hands on Job himself.” So Satan left the presence of Jehovah. Job 1:8-12

What happens after this is that Job is attacked and afflicted from every angle, all his children died, all his sheep and servants were killed, all his camels and all his servants watching the camels also died.  This was enough to make anyone ‘curse God and died’ like his wife told him to.  But Job didn’t, what he did after hearing the bad news is to get up and worship God Almighty. Job 1:14 -20

This wasn’t all, Satan again went to God’s presence and God again asked him if he had considered his faithful servant Job’… and avoids evil; he still is faithful, although you led me to ruin him without cause’.   Satan replies God that Job is still faithful because he is in good health and if God were to touch his body, Job would not worship God as he has been doing. God again gives Satan the permission to afflict Job’s health but not his life.  Again, Satan strikes and afflicts Job with leprosy. Job 2:3-8

It is at this point that his wife comes to him and mocks his Godly resolve and tells him to ‘curse God and die’. Job 2:9

The end of this story is an uplifting one because ‘Then Jehovah gave back to Job, twice as much as he had before’.  This is our God, the God of restoration.  Job 42:10-17

The verse that has blessed me is Job 42: 12 And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning.  I pray this for you too in Jesus name.  Don’t give up, it is not over as long as God is still on the throne and is the creator of the heaven and earth.  He will turn things around for your good, He will because He is faithful and will not let Satan defeat you when you are His.  Hold on, don’t give up.

Prayer points: Lord I want more of you, fill me up Holy Spirit; Lord you have given me authority to trample over serpents and scorpions, restore unto me, everything that the enemy has stolen from me and I mean everything Lord in Jesus name.
