Eccl 3: 1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:   a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

God is a God of purpose, and He does things at His appointed time.  Through out the Bible, we have instances whereby God showed up and showed out at His appointed time.  God is always on time and there are many examples of people in the Bible, who patiently waited for God to move in their life. Abraham is one such.  God determines how long we wait in His waiting room. God determines the times.  Jacob had to wait fourteen years to marry Rachel. God appoints the times. Joseph languished in prison for three years for a crime he didn’t commit. Why? Because God appoints the times in which we languish and wait in His waiting room. Moses spent forty years on the backside of the desert, outside of Egypt because God appoints the times. Like Jonah was in the belly of the fish, Jesus was in the grave three days and three nights because God appoints the times.

God made a promise to Abraham, that he would be the father of a great nation. He and his wife Sarah experienced a season of barrenness. It appeared as if the promise of having a child would never come to pass. They tried to manufacture their own deliverance by producing a child through Sarah’s servant Hagar. But at a set time — a season appointed by God – even through Abraham was 100 years old, and his wife Sarah was 90 – God decided that the child Issac would be born. Issac was God’s promise. He was a part of God’s master plan.   When God was ready, He went to visit Abraham and informed him that at His appointed time, Sarah would give birth.  Gen 18:14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”   As we all know, they gave birth to their child of promise, called Isaac.

In Exodus, there came a time that the groanings of the children of Israel, was heard by God.  He then sought Moses out to go and speak to Pharaoh, to let His people go.  But Pharaoh was stubborn and would not let the people go.  God then decided to slowly destroy Egypt by sending plagues (10 in total).  Ex 9:The Lord set a time and said, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this in the land.” And the next day the Lord did it: All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one animal belonging to the Israelites died.   In this specific situation, He gave them 24 hours to let the people of God go and pray to Him but Pharaoh being obstinate, refused and exactly what God said would happen, happened.

In 2 Kings, we read about famine being in the land and how a king’s officer said what Elisha the prophet of God had prophesied would not happen.  2 Kings 7: Elisha replied, “Hear the word of the Lord. This is what the Lord says: About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel[b] and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.”  The officer on whose arm the king was leaning said to the man of God, “Look, even if the Lord should open the floodgates of the heavens, could this happen?”  “You will see it with your own eyes,” answered Elisha, “but you will not eat any of it!”   Just as Elisha had prophesied, it happened on the following day.  2 Kgs 7:17 Now the king had put the officer on whose arm he leaned in charge of the gate, and the people trampled him in the gateway, and he died, just as the man of God had foretold when the king came down to his house. 18 It happened as the man of God had said to the king: “About this time tomorrow, a seah of the finest flour will sell for a shekel and two seahs of barley for a shekel at the gate of Samaria.”

Remember, it is God’s appointed time. It is His appointed waiting room. God will not allow you to be swallowed up by death. Like Jesus and Jonah, He will not allow you to be consumed by the grave. If you are saved, this is a wonderful revelation. The Bible tells us that each of us has an appointment with God. Every human being upon the face of the earth has an appointment with God. Hebrews 9:27 says, “It is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment.” An appointment is coming for every human being.

So please be encouraged saints! All of life’s experiences can be categorized into God’s appointed timing. Whatever the season you are in, I encourage you today to trust in God’s Appointed Time. Understand that adversity is God’s opportunity to usher you into a season of peace and blessings.   It will all work out for your good, ;ike it did for Joseph.

God’s Appointed Time can be summarized in the words spoken by God through the prophet Isaiah 48: 3  I foretold the former things long ago, my mouth announced them and I made them known; then suddenly I acted, and they came to pass.
